AK2 - Day 2

We left Rawlin, WY around 7 am. We were both so tired from the Iron Butt the day before we decided to sleep in! It is a long way of nothing but high plains with lots of wind through Wyoming and even into Utah and southern Idaho. The wind would blow you off the road if you were not paying attention at all times. We did not push as much as we did the day before but wanted to reach Boise, ID at a decent time to get a good hotel and have dinner with a few drinks. We made 600 miles today even though it was mostly wide open highway with little to keep your attention.

We arrived in Boise around 5 pm, got a nice hotel (compared to last night) then walked over for dinner and drinks. We are back at the hotel and after posting this I will be hitting the sack soon. We have 532 miles tomorrow to reach Dave and Susan's in Tumwater, WA.

It is interesting in that we consider 500 miles as a lite day. Most riders think that 300 miles is a long trip. If you do this type of riding you have to take it 100 to 150 miles at a time. At 100 miles both Jim and I start to scrim and can't bare setting on the bike another mile. We bare the pain until time for gas at 150 miles. We get off, walk around for 15 minutes and then we are ready for another 100 to 150 miles. This is exactly how we did the Iron Butt. It is all mental. You have to bare the pain and keep riding.

Looking forward to seeing Dave and Susan and then the rest of the adventure.

P.S. We keep meeting lots of new people that see our bikes and are interested in hearing about our adventure. So many would like to do the same thing but never will.
